Date: December 15st, Sunday

Event Time: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

National StreetPass Weekend for New York City will take place on December 15 at the Barnes & Noble at Union Square!

Join us on the third floor cafe as we collect StreetPass tags, experience Nintendo zone, play Nintendo 3DS multiplayer games such as Pokemon X & Pokemon Y, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and Mario Party Island Tour and more! Plus we may have a limited number of "premium swag" that we will share with those that attend the meetup.

During this weekend, all the Nintendo Zones in North America will be put together and mixed around so that users have the opportunity to StreetPass with people from different parts of the country.

The existing StreetPass feature allows players to StreetPass only with those within their vicinity. During National StreetPass Weekend, when players enter one of 29,000 Nintendo Zones, they will be connected with other 3DS users from all around North America.

Nintendo Zones have StreetPass relay points, so when a 3DS user gets near a Nintendo Zone, their StreetPass data is automatically forwarded to Nintendo servers, which temporarily store it before passing it onto the next 3DS user who enters that Zone. This feature, which was announced earlier this year, aims to allow players to find more Miis in their StreetPass Mii Plaza.

While connected over Nintendo Zone, users will be able to watch 3D videos, full-length animations, play demos and find retailer promotions and coupons.
More information about National StreetPass Weekend, including how to find your nearest Nintendo Zone, can be found at http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/nintendozone

==Yankee Swap Rules==

Everyone who participates brings in one wrapped gift. (We will only take wrapped gifts to protect the anonymity of the gift) They will be placed in a central location, and the participants will determine the order they will take turns selecting them. For all of the participants, we will assign them a number to determine who goes first. First person opens a wrapped gift that isn't their own, and opens it for everyone to see. The next person chooses a gift, then opens it, and must decide whether to keep it, or swap it for the first player's gift. Every participant in order gets to select a gift, open it, and decide whether they would like to swap it , or keep it. After all of the gifts are chosen, the person who chose their gift first now has the option to swap or keep the gift, and the game is over.

The price range for the wrapped gifts are between $15 minimum and $30 maximum. Gifts that are excluded from the Yankee Swap are T-shirts and Gift cards of any kind (this includes Nintendo e-shop cards). It's recommended that you bring your gifts wrapped.

Nintendo Fans Lined Up For Newest Mario and Zelda Video Game to Support Charity for Ill Children

New York Nintendo fans including StreetPass NYC (the largest unofficial Nintendo 3DS fan club in the United States of America) are not only lining up overnight at the Nintendo World Store on November 21st (for the launch event between 8:00 PM until 12:00 AM MIDNIGHT) to purchase the hot new games Super Mario 3D World for Wii U, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party Island Tour for Nintendo 3DS; but have also unified together for a much greater cause.

Equally as exciting for fans in the line is a show of support for Nick's Marathon, a 48-hour video game marathon to honor the memory of leukemia victim Nick Capobianco. The marathon will raise donations in an effort to provide sick children staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island in New Hyde Park with Wii U and Nintendo 3DS video game systems.

Nick Capobianco friends will gather at a Manhattan apartment and play video games for 48 hours straight from November 21st to November 24th, live-streaming it at http://www.nicksmarathon.org,and asking those who watch to donate to the cause via the website. The goal is to raise $5,000 and at the time of publishing the group has already collected over $2,700.

“Nick’s favorite things in life were playing video games and hanging out with his friends,” said childhood friend Alan Noah, who helped start the marathon in his memory. “To do it for charity, it all seemed perfect. I always said that if he were still alive and we did this marathon it would be his favorite weekend of the year and as soon as one ended he would be looking forward to the next one.”

Matthew Campo, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, which provides a temporary home-away-from-home for sick children and their families, said as of now they only have three Xbox 360 systems, which was released eight years ago.

“We’re grateful for the gifts because they’re hitting a major need here,” Campo said. “We have a lot of toys for the younger kids but the older kids need something to keep them occupied. We work everyday to put smiles on the faces that come here so what better way to do that than by putting something interactive and fun in their hands.”

Since the marathon’s inception in 2008, Nick's Marathon has raised $10,000 to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Now the marathon hope to raise enough charitable donations to purchase a Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Wii U, and various games, to be delivered by Santa Claus at Ronald McDonald House’s “Lights of Love” holiday party on December 12.

"Nick's Marathon is a symbol of the fullest, purest potential that the Nintendo community can achieve", said Jordan White, Founder and Event Organizer of StreetPass NYC, in line for the event dressed in the iconic Cat Suit from Super Mario 3D World on Wii U. "The Nintendo community always supports efforts to improve the welfare of other people, especially children who for some may be the last time they enjoy playing a video game. We hope that by this display of our shared enthusiasm for the charity at this once in a life time launch where the next generation of Mario and Zelda games will release at the same time will spread the word of this honorable endeavor."

StreetPass NYC Celebrates Pokemon X & Y Launch and New York Comic Con with Wedding Proposal and Panel

Oct. 17, 2013 - NEW YORK -- StreetPass NYC, the largest unofficial Nintendo 3DS fan club in the United States of America, celebrated the New York Comic Con 2013 weekend at the Jacob Javits Center with various memorable fan-run events that will make the convention's eighth year one for the New York video game history books.

The festivities started on October 11th at 11:00 PM EST with a once in a lifetime announcement that shocked all the Pokemon Trainers at the Pokemon X & Y Launch (located at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center New York); a surprise proposal of marriage from StreetPass Long Island Co-Founder "Jeff Weinstein" to Co-Founder "Debbie Lee Gluzband" on the main stage in front of hundreds of Nintendo gamers lined up to purchase the game at midnight.

"It's hard to gather the words necessary to accurately describe my thoughts and reactions to the events that took place this weekend. Debbie (Lee Gluzband) and I had the opportunity of a lifetime to get engaged on stage at the Pokemon X & Pokemon Y midnight launch event at Nintendo World Store in NYC and share our experience with hundreds of fellow Pokemon fans", said Jeff Weinstein, panelist and Co-Founder of StreetPass Long Island. "In hindsight, all I can say is 'WOW!!!' I would like to give thanks to Jordan White from StreetPass NYC, Nintendo of America, The Nintendo World Store Staff, Golin Harris, The Pokemon Company, New York Comic Con and everybody else who made this weekend possible."

"The weekend of New York Comic Con 2013 was a whirlwind of awesome for me!  On Friday night, I became engaged to the love of my life in true Poke-fan fashion, with a public proposal in front of hundreds of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y fans at the Launch Event at Nintendo World Store", said Debbie Gluzband, panelist and Co-Founder of StreetPass Long Island. "I was so surprised and overjoyed, and to all of those who helped make the proposal possible, I cannot thank you enough.  The Nintendo Communities panel the following day was a BLAST and a great success.  It was so great to see the panel room completely filled with so many enthusiastic StreetPass and Pokemon gamers.  I only wish we could do this all over again next weekend!"

For more information about the wedding proposal, visit this blogpost by the future bride herself at http://streetpasslongisland.wordpress.com/2013/10/16/spli-proposal-at-the-pokemon-xy-launch-event/

The following day on October 12th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Jordan White (Founder & Event Organizer of StreetPasss NYC) hosted a panel titled "Nintendo Communities: StreetPass, Pokemon and Beyond!" along with Geoffrey Kappenberg (StreetPass NYC), Jeff Weinstein (StreetPass Long Island), Debbie Lee Gluzband (StreetPass Long Island), Matthew Rodriguez (Pokemon DS NYC) and KC Smithsen (Official NYC Pokemon Castelia League) in Room 1A10.

Nintendo and Pokemon Fans camped out at the previous panel to attend the Nintendo Communities presentation and also created a long line that bisected the other panel lines at the convention hall. The room quickly reached max capacity with every seat filled with a Nintendo 3DS gamer and other fans gathered shoulder to shoulder in the back row to get a few of the action. The panelists talked about the past, present and future of Nintendo Handhelds and the Pokemon Franchise culminating with a Q&A session, raffle of exclusive Nintendo merchandise and a moment of silence to honor former Nintendo Co. LtD president and chairman Hiroshi Yamauchi who passed away on September 19th 2013.

“It was incredibly fun to work with all these passionate and knowledgeable Nintendo fans,” said KC Smithsen, one of the panelists and founder of The Pocket Players blog. “The turnout bowled me over! I’m sorry so many people had to be turned away at the door because we ran out of seats, but it just goes to show the power of Nintendo and Pokémon communities.”

"Pokemon DS NYC was glad to have presented, for fans, why Pokemon has kept us together, and are super excited to see how Pokemon X and Pokemon Y will continue to bring fans together", exclaimed Matthew Rodriguez, panelist and Leader of Pokemon DS NYC Meet Up.

"We always put our best foot forward when it comes to New York Comic-Con and thanks to our talented staff I can proudly say without hesitation that we knocked it out of the park this year", said Jordan White, Founder and Event Organizer of StreetPass NYC. "I am personally honored to work with Nintendo of America and the Pokemon Company to set up the marriage proposal between Jeff Weinstein and Debbie Lee Gluzband at the Pokemon X and Pokemon Y Launch and hosting the Nintendo Communities panel with some of the most professional Nintendo fans (and audience) I could ever work with. I cannot stress my thanks to Nintendo of America and the Nintendo World Store for bringing an amazing booth with popular first party and third party Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games, tournament contests and a fascinating panel about the Legend of Zelda with legendary franchise developer Eiji Aonuma. Nintendo is the best in the business because they support their fans and to be even a small fraction of that magic was a dream come true."
